چکیده

Acknowledgements We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who advised and assisted with our research throughout our time at ENSIC. We sincerely appreciate their time and efforts. Abstract The goal of this project was to investigate the properties of alginate stabilized emulsions and their potential role for drug delivery. The polymer acts as a barrier between phases in oil-in-water emulsions to increase stability. An emulsion consisting of 10% oil by volume with 1.4 mg/mL alginate as a surfactant was found to be most stable. Kinetic release experiments showed that using the emulsion provided a controlled release of the model drug when compared to no emulsion at all.

Original Research Nano-adjuvanted polio vaccine: Preparation and characterization of chitosan and trimethylchitosan (TMC) nanoparticles loaded with inactivated polio virus and coated with sodium alginate

Objective(s):  It is proposed that particulate antigens could better interact with the antigen presenting cells (APCs). A fast, simple and scalable process for preparation of polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) is coating of charged antigenic particles, like viruses, with oppositely charged polymers. A second coating with a charged polymer could increase the stability and modify the immunomodulatory ...

In Situ Cross-Linking of Polyanionic Polymers to Sustain the Drug Release from Theophylline Tablets

The aim of this study was to develop an extended-release tablet formulation using a new in situ cross-linking method. The effects of polyvalent cations on theophylline release from tablets made with the polyanionic polymers sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethylcellulose, were investigated. Different miliequivalents of the di and tri-valent cation, Ca2+ and Al3+, were added to tablet form...

Functionalized hydroxyapatite scaffolds coated with sodium alginate and chitosan for controlled drug delivery

Due to its bioactivity, hydroxyapatite (HAp) is one of the most perspective materials for controlled drug delivery. Biodegradable polymers like chitosan and sodium alginate are used as coating materials for ceramic scaffolds. In this work the application of HAp/sodium alginate or chitosan composite materials which provide controlled lidocaine release is discussed. The polymers and lidocaine hyd...
